City completes resurfacing of Bishop Lavis roads

The City’s Mayoral Committee Member for Urban Mobility, Councillor Rob Quintas, together with local ward councillor, Charles Esau, inspected a number of Bishop Lavis roads that were recently resurfaced.

‘We would like to thank all our residents, road users, and businesses in Bishop Lavis for your patience and cooperation during the recent roadworks in your community. I recently visited the area and was happy to see that the upgrades were successfully completed along Lavis Drive, between Myrtle Road and John Ramsey Avenue, as well as on Tafelberg Road and Helderberg Road. Regular maintenance like we have seen here ensures that we keep Cape Town moving safely and efficiently,’ said the City’s Mayoral Committee Member for Urban Mobility, Councillor Rob Quintas.

The improvements included raising two pedestrian crossings along Lavis Drive to enhance road safety for vulnerable users. Two raised intersections were constructed, one at the intersection at Kasteelberg Road and another at the municipal buildings and sports fields intersection. The team also worked on the existing concrete kerbs and channels, repaired damaged guardrails, and upgraded manholes to ensure well-maintained road infrastructure.

This project formed part of the City of Cape Town’s Road Maintenance Programme.
